Why do babies cry so much?
Babies cry because they can't talk yet, so crying is how they tell us things.

Pip’s answer
- Babies cry because they can't talk yet, so crying is how they tell us things.
- A cry might mean I'm hungry, I'm sleepy, or please hold me!
- When a grown-up feeds or cuddles them, babies often feel calm again.
- Hehe, you cried just like that when you were a tiny baby too!
For grown-ups
Crying is a newborn's main way to communicate needs such as hunger, tiredness, discomfort or wanting closeness. Crying often peaks around six weeks of age and decreases as babies learn other ways to communicate, like smiling, babbling and gestures.
