About Pip
Pip is a small, fuzzy, question-eating friend from the Wonder Moon. Children hold Pip, ask a why question out loud, and Pip answers in a few short sentences while a moving picture shows each one. It’s made for ages 4 to 8.
How the answers are made
Pip’s 228 built-in answers were written with AI in a child-friendly voice, then checked by a separate AI review for accuracy, safety and words a five-year-old knows; sentences the review flagged were rewritten. Each answer page also has a “For grown-ups” note with the fuller science.
For questions Pip doesn’t know yet, an AI writes a new answer on the spot, and a second AI review checks every sentence before Pip says it. Topics better suited to a grown-up, like death or violence, are gently handed back to you. AI can still make mistakes, so please treat Pip as a curious companion, not a textbook, and explore big questions together.
Privacy
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies.
- Pip’s Wonder Jar (the questions your child asked, and Pip’s hats) is stored only on your device. You can empty it from the Parents button in the app.
- When your child talks, your browser turns speech into text (Chrome usually does this on Google’s servers; Safari and on-device mode keep it on the device). Pip only receives the text.
- Questions Pip already knows are answered without sending anything. For new questions, only the words of the question are sent to write an answer.
