Why do we need to sleep?
When you sleep, buddy, your body rests and grows.

Pip’s answer
- When you sleep, buddy, your body rests and grows.
- Your brain tidies up everything you learned today, swish swish!
- That is why you wake up happy and ready to play!
For grown-ups
Sleep lets the body grow and repair itself, and growth hormone is released mainly during deep sleep. The brain also uses sleep to sort and store the day's memories. Children aged 3 to 5 need about 10 to 13 hours of sleep a day, including naps, and children aged 6 to 12 need about 9 to 12 hours.
Ask your child: What was the best thing that happened today that your brain should remember?
