Why do I have to brush my teeth?
When you eat, buddy, tiny bits of food stay on your teeth.

Pip’s answer
- When you eat, buddy, tiny bits of food stay on your teeth.
- Little bugs called bacteria love to munch munch munch that sugar.
- Brushing sweeps them away, so your teeth stay strong and shiny!
For grown-ups
Bacteria in the mouth feed on sugars and produce acids that can wear away tooth enamel and cause cavities. Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste removes the sticky film of bacteria (plaque), and fluoride helps strengthen enamel.
