Why do we have belly buttons?
Your belly button is where you got food before you were born.

Pip’s answer
- Your belly button is where you got food before you were born.
- A soft tube connected baby to mom, carrying food and air.
- After a baby is born, the tube isn't needed, so a little button is left.
- Hehe, almost every person in the whole world has a belly button!

Can you find your belly button and give it a pat?
For grown-ups
Before birth, a baby receives oxygen and nutrients through the umbilical cord, which connects to the placenta. After birth the cord is clamped and cut, and the small stump dries up and falls off within a few weeks, leaving the navel, or belly button.
Ask your child: Do you have an innie or an outie belly button?
