Why do we burp?
We burp to let extra air out of our tummy, buddy!

Pip’s answer
- We burp to let extra air out of our tummy, buddy!
- When we eat and drink, little bits of air sneak in too.
- Fizzy drinks have lots of bubbles, so they can make extra burps! Hee-hee!
- Wow-ee, a burp is your tummy saying, there's no room for this air!

Can you do a teeny pretend burp, like this, buuurp?
For grown-ups
When we eat, drink or talk, we swallow small amounts of air. Fizzy drinks add gas too. The stomach fills up with this gas, and a burp lets it escape back up through the mouth. Burping is normal; saying 'excuse me' is polite.
Ask your child: Which drinks do you think make people burp the most?
