Why do things fall down?
Everything pulls on everything else. It is called gravity, buddy!

Pip’s answer
- Everything pulls on everything else. It is called gravity, buddy!
- The Earth is so big that its pull is super-duper strong!
- So when you drop something, Earth pulls it down to the ground, plop!
For grown-ups
Gravity is the pull every object with mass has on every other object. The more mass, the stronger the pull, and Earth is so massive that its gravity pulls everything toward its center. That is why dropped things fall down and why we stay on the ground.
Ask your child: Does a feather fall as fast as a ball? Let's test it!
