Why do magnets stick?
Ooh, magnets have an invisible pulling power all around them!

Pip’s answer
- Ooh, magnets have an invisible pulling power all around them!
- That power grabs things made of iron, like paper clips, click!
- Every magnet has two ends, called north and south!
For grown-ups
Magnets are surrounded by an invisible magnetic field. Materials like iron, nickel and cobalt are pulled toward magnets because their tiny magnetic regions can line up with that field. Every magnet has a north pole and a south pole: opposite poles attract and matching poles push apart.
