Pip’s answer

  1. A kangaroo mom has a pouch to keep her tiny baby safe and warm.
  2. A baby kangaroo is called a joey, and it starts as small as a jellybean!
  3. The joey drinks milk and grows inside the cozy pouch for months.
  4. Ooh, buddy, when it gets big, the joey peeks out and hops along with Mom!

For grown-ups

Kangaroos are marsupials. A newborn joey is only about the size of a jellybean. It crawls into its mother's pouch, where it drinks milk and keeps growing for months. Even after it starts hopping outside, it jumps back in for safety and milk.

Ask your child: How big do you think a baby kangaroo is when it's born?
