Why do dogs sniff everything?
Dogs sniff to learn about the world, because their noses are super strong.

Pip’s answer
- Dogs sniff to learn about the world, because their noses are super strong.
- One sniff tells a dog who walked by and where they went.
- Sniff sniff! A sniff is like reading a smelly newspaper full of news!
- Wow-ee, a dog's nose works thousands of times better than yours!
For grown-ups
Dogs experience the world through smell. They have up to 300 million scent receptors compared with about 6 million in humans, and a large part of their brain is devoted to analyzing odors. Sniffing tells them who has passed by, what they ate and even how they were feeling.
