Why do batteries run out?
Batteries run out because the stuff inside that makes power gets used up.

Pip’s answer
- Batteries run out because the stuff inside that makes power gets used up.
- Inside, special stuff mixes and sends electricity out to your toy.
- When that stuff has all mixed, no more power can flow. Sleepy toy!
- Ooh, some batteries can be charged to get their power back again!
For grown-ups
A battery stores chemical energy. When connected in a circuit, chemical reactions inside move electrons through the wires, powering the device. Over time the chemicals that react get used up, so the battery can't push electricity anymore. Rechargeable batteries can have those reactions reversed by charging.
