Why is there fog?
Fog is a cloud that floats right down near the ground!

Pip’s answer
- Fog is a cloud that floats right down near the ground!
- When the air gets cool, invisible water in it turns into teeny tiny drops.
- Millions of those drops float together, so it looks soft and misty.
- Wow-ee, walking in fog is like walking inside a cloud!
For grown-ups
Fog is a cloud that forms at ground level. When moist air cools, often on clear, calm nights, the water vapor condenses into billions of tiny floating droplets. Fog usually clears as the sun warms the air and the droplets evaporate.
Ask your child: Why do you think fog is often gone by lunchtime?
