Why is the grass wet in the morning?
The grass is wet because of dew, tiny water drops from the air.

Pip’s answer
- The grass is wet because of dew, tiny water drops from the air.
- Air holds tiny bits of water you can't see, floating all around.
- At night the grass gets cool, and that hidden water turns back into drops.
- Wow-ee, each morning the grass gets a sparkly coat of tiny jewels!
For grown-ups
Morning dew forms when grass cools overnight below the dew point, the temperature at which air can no longer hold all its water vapor. The vapor condenses into droplets on the cool blades. Clear, calm nights produce the most dew.
Ask your child: Shall we check the grass for dew drops early tomorrow?
